This is a old post from when we ran our 1st Whole30 challenge that I like to re-post each time we do another. Check it out….

The other day I passed along some tips on how to handle some of those “haters” that you might come across during your CFR Whole30 Challenge, but that was more focused on those outside the home. What do you do when there are people living in your house that just don’t understand the caveman way? Of course we need to respect the choices of others just as much as we want them to respect ours, but how does one stay successful snacking on kale chips and guacamole when others in your house are going to town on that pint of Ben & Jerry’s?!

To do this you will need to make some “modifications” to your kitchen and I highly recommend doing this behind the scenes…..

1) Divide up your pantry and/or food cabinets. The “outta site, outta mind” is true. So having those Doritos right next to your Coconut Flakes is no bueno! Sure you might go past it once or twice, but why should you even have to! Just NEATLY place all those processed goodies on their own shelf away from your Paleo friendly supplies. It helps if you put the “other” stuff on a higher shelf so you can’t see it, but if you have kids in the house or a shorter spouse that might stir the pot. If you can get away with it…great! If not, just compromise!

2) Divide up the shelves in the fridge. This one is a little more tricky unless you have one of those cool, newer units with all those funky shelving options. Your not gonna be able to keep the “other” stuff out of sight, but you can place it into different shelves and drawers. I don’t know about you, but if I had some refrigerated thin mints (my nemesis) next to the oranges it would not be cool! Move things around, but DO NOT HIDE THINGS….you’ve been warned!

3) Learn to cook! There are TONS of amazing Paleo recipes out there…try them! I promise you that when they get to the table and see some Paleo Chili (try Mel’s Fav Chili) or Spinach Stuffed Chicken with Bacon they will not be complaining, let alone, even realize that you have casually omitted some things. If you go with the grilled chicken, steamed veggies and almonds route, you are indeed Paleo and Whole30 compliant, but the others in your house are not going to eat that and you will only last so long looking at their pizza….just sayin…..

So there you have it. I know it is a very short list, but these 3 things could make all the difference in your house and MIGHT even help convince some of the other members in your home to give it a try.
