Tales of a Traveling CrossFitter – UK Edition, Day 1

I am officially on UK soil and have made my way to the hotel! Of course, one of the first things a traveling CrossFitter needs to do is check out the facilities and here is what I found…It is not much, but it will do!

On first glance I have noticed two key things…a rower and some dumbbells. So lets put them together and see what we can come up with!
I got a bit lucky with this one because most hotel gyms will not have a rower. Maybe it’s just a UK thing…I dunno? Just don’t tell Bertha, Thelma or Louise that I used “another rower” when I threw together the following:

21-15-9 reps for time of:
Row 250m
Dumbbell Hang Power Clean (14kg ea)
Push-ups (Hand release at the bottom position)

It took me a little while to figure out why 14 pounds felt so darn heavy!! I thought it was just the fact that I haven’t slept since Saturday night and I literally just swamped down a huge meal about 15 minutes before the workout….but no…Rob just forgot he was in the UK and like the rest of the world they use…HELLO…the metric system!! Nevertheless, I finished the WOD with the 14kg (30lbs) dumbbells in 11:57…which is not exactly something to write home about, but….oh wait, isn’t that exactly what I am doing right now…HA!!!

Well it is about 2 am here and I probably should get some rest! On a total side note…I am always amazed by the breakthroughs in bathroom engineering by the British, but we will get into that another day!

Cheers!!
