“About seven months ago, I decided that I needed to make a drastic lifestyle change. After college, I had a very difficult time staying healthy and I put on a lot of weight. It got to the point where I wasn’t breathing right while I was sleeping and I’d get winded just bending over to tie my sneakers.

In June, I asked one of my good friends for some suggestions. She exercises a lot and tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle and she heard about this “Crossfit” so I figured I would give it a go. I had no idea what to expect on the first night of the On-Ramp class. I started with CrossFit Rockland. I was ready to pass out within the first five minutes of class and wanted to quit. But the coaches never let me get discouraged and they continued to push me and keep me going.

It is now seven months and counting, and I feel great! I can’t even recognize the person that I used to be. Now, I like working out, pushing myself and learning new things. My energy levels are through the roof and the confidence I now exhude in everyday life both, professionally and personally, is amazing.

As an avid Crossfitter who has visited numerous other boxes, I can say with confidence that Crossfit Rockland’s programming is among the best I’ve seen. The coaches know exactly what their athletes need to get fitter, stronger, and faster which is why, nearly two years into my Crossfit career, I continue to see results. One of the best things I can say about CrossFit Rockland is that the coaches take their athletes seriously. Before I began crossfitting, I was hesitant because I had not worked out since my track and field days in high school. A cartilage tear in my right hip and the subsequent bone spurs that formed kept me out of the gym for seven years before I was turned on to Crossfit. Even a year after major surgery, I had nagging and persistent pain that convinced me that my athletic days were long gone. But since joining Crossfit, I have been pain free and I am now able to do things, both in and out of the gym, that I never thought possible. CrossFit has served as a total rehabilitation for my hip because the CFR coaches take the time to listen to how their athletes feel and better yet, include strength and mobility work to address any concerns an athlete might have. Having my health back, in addition to feeling more confident about how I look and what I can accomplish, makes CrossFit Rockland every penny, if not more! Thank you, CFR!”

“My Crossfit Rockland experience began just after the holidays of 2010. Of course, just as I had each year before, I made a new year’s resolution to lose weight and get into better shape. I knew from previous experience that it was easier said than done. By February, going to the gym to use the treadmill or elliptical would get boring. I was determined to find something different, something fun that I enjoyed doing and would be able to see fast results. That’s when my mom, the thrill seeker that she is, introduced me to Crossfit Rockland.

Of course, when I first walked into the box I was intimidated. Who wouldn’t be with a bunch of fit people running around the gym, lifting weights, doing pull ups and pushups as fast as they could like it was nothing? Yeah right! There’s no way I could do that. “This is not for me!”…the only thoughts going through my mind at the time. But I did do it, and I soon found out that’s what Crossfit Rockland is all about. Doing things you never thought you could and pushing yourself further than you ever thought you would.

Seven months later I am proud to say that I went far beyond my new year’s resolution. I am still going to crossfit weekly and I’m hooked. I have been able to see and feel my progress from month to month and I never get bored because every day the workout is different. Thanks to the great coaches at Crossfit Rockland, I not only feel and look better than I ever have, but I am more knowledgeable about the food I eat and living an overall healthier lifestyle. On top of all this, the people and coaches at Crossfit Rockland are not just people I met at the gym, they are my new friends that continue to motivate and encourage me to be my best. “THANK YOU Crossfit Rockland for bringing the FUN back into my workout. The problem I was having was that my workout routine was just that, routine. While I was looking to find a way to kick it up a notch, my college aged son suggested I look into finding a Crossfit Box because it’s the “New Rage.” As luck would have it, a BOX had just opened up a couple miles away.

It’s 6 months later, 10 lbs lighter and I am still going strong. Crossfit has not only been challenging, but also motivational. For me, it has been life changing. Although I have always made sure I worked out on a regular basis, at Crossfit Rockland I am now challenging my mind and body in ways I have not done for years and to top it off, my eating habits have changed forever.
